Beirut Checklist: Business
LAU provides accommodations for students and guests with physical disabilities on the day of the commencement ceremony. Please submit your request by email joceline.karkour@lau.edu.lb or by phone: +961 1 786456 ext. 1132 at least two weeks prior to the ceremony. We do not provide wheelchairs, so make sure to secure one, if needed.
The LAU ID is obligatory for all the steps. If you don’t have an LAU ID, please request your complimentary alumni ID as per Step 1.
Step 1. Request Your Complimentary Alumni ID
Graduating students who would like to request a complimentary alumni ID, may kindly do so as follows:
- Date (excluding weekends and holidays):
- Graduates of summer 2023 and fall 2023: May 31 - June 12
- Graduates of spring 2024: June 5 - 12
- Time: 9:00 am - 12:00 pm
- Place: Nicol Hall, Room 102, Beirut campus

Step 2. Fill Out The Exit Survey
The Exit Survey will be sent to your LAU email starting May 21. This is a mandatory step for you to be able to pick up your cap & gown and request your invitation tickets. The deadline to fill out the survey is June 13.

Step 3. Pick Up Your Cap & Gown
Graduates of summer 2023 and fall 2023: After you fill out the Exit Survey, you need to pass by the Business Office to pay a deposit of $100. Then, you need to present the deposit receipt as well as your LAU ID to pick up your cap & gown. You will collect back the deposit from the Business Office once you return the complete cap & gown set, by the deadline. Make sure to keep the receipt.
Graduates of spring 2024: After you fill out the Exit Survey, present your LAU ID to pick up the cap & gown. A hold will be placed on your records until you return the complete cap & gown set, by the deadline.

- Time: 9:00 am - 12:00 pm
- Place: Student Lounge (WKSC, level 4)
Scarves for students graduating with Honors, Distinction, and High Distinction will also be distributed.
Important note:
If you fail to return the cap & gown, tassel, hood (graduates) and collar (females) complete or by the deadline, you will be asked to pay a penalty and the cost of the missing item(s). Please refer to Step 7.

Step 4. Request Your Invitation Tickets
After you complete steps 2 and 3, you can proceed to request your invitation tickets. You are eligible for 2 tickets.
- Starting May 31 (graduates of summer and fall 2023) and starting June 5 (graduates of spring 2024), fill out this registration form and verify your information. You will receive a confirmation email once you submit the form.
- A day prior to your Commencement Ceremony, you will receive separate emails with QR codes for your listed invitees.
- Your invitees should present their QR codes at the Lower Gate on the day of the Commencement Ceremony either as a hard copy (print out) or as a soft copy (image on the mobile)
N.B. These codes should NOT be transferred or shared EXCEPT with YOUR listed invitees. Sharing the codes with anyone else will jeopardize your invitee’s access to the commencement ceremony.

Step 5. Attend The Mandatory Rehearsal
Students who will not participate in the rehearsal will not be allowed to march during commencement.

Step 6. March on Commencement Day
The LAU ID/ alumni ID is obligatory to enter the campus.
June 15: Commencement Day.
- 3:00 pm: Upper Gate opens to graduating students
- Late comers (after 6:00 pm) will not be allowed to march
- Graduates must stay on the upper campus
- 3:00 - 6:00 pm: Photographers will be on campus to take pictures
- 6:00 pm: Lower Gate opens for guests
- 8:00 pm: Ceremony starts. View the instructions
Parents, friends, and guests need to present the invitation card (QR Code) to enter the campus.
- Children under 12 years old are not allowed on campus.
- Balloons, horns, fire crackers are not allowed on campus.
- Seats are available on a first come first served basis. No seat reservation is allowed.
The ceremony will be broadcast live starting 8:00 pm
Step 7. Return The Cap & Gown
- Date: June 17- July 17 (excluding weekends and holidays)
- Time: 9:00 am - 12:00 pm
- Place: Student Lounge (WKSC, level 4)
Important notes:
- Summer 2023 and fall 2023 graduates: After you return the cap & gown complete, pass by the Business Office and present your receipt to collect your deposit.
- Spring 2024 graduates: A hold will be placed on your account until the caps and gowns are returned complete.
- All graduates: If you fail to return the cap & gown or the tassel, hood (graduates) and collar (females) by July 17, you will be asked to pay a penalty of $5 per day, starting July 25, for a maximum of $100. You will also be asked to pay for any missing item ($12 for the cap, $50 for the gown, $5 for the collar for female graduates, and $15 for master graduates)
