Instructions for Students
Smoking, eating, drinking, and using cell phones during commencement is strictly prohibited
We strongly advise you against bringing over your personal belongings (purses, jewelry, etc…) to avoid loss of valuables.
Instructions for Students - The LAU ID or Alumni ID is obligatory
1. Dress code
- Students ought to wear a white and/or dark attire. High heels should be avoided due to the amount of standing and walking needed. Instead, opt for medium-height heels or flats
- Undergraduates’ tassel on the front right side
- Graduates’ tassel on the front left side
2. When marching
- Do not leave the marching line
- Move slowly & keep two arms’ length behind the one ahead of you
3. When you reach your place
- Remain standing until the National Anthem is over
- Do not clap after the prayer
- Remain silent during speeches
4. Graduation time
- At the signal of the Dean or Registrar rise along with your class
- Follow the line of march
- Receive the diploma with your left hand
- Shake hands with the President, Provost, and Dean of School
- Change tassel from right to left side (only undergraduates)
- Proceed back to your seat
- Remain standing until the Registrar asks the class to be seated
- Rise for Alma Mater at the time the Faculty stands
Byblos campus
- 2:30 - 5:30 pm : Photographers will be on campus to take pictures
- You can meet up with your parents after the ceremony to take photos
Beirut campus
- 3:00 - 6:00 pm : Photographers will be on campus to take pictures
- 6:00 pm: Middle Gate closes for lineup
- Late comers (after 6:00 pm) will not be allowed to march
- Graduates must stay on the upper campus
Instructions for guests
Parents, friends, and guests need to present the invitation card (QR Code) to enter the campus.
- Children under 12 years old are not allowed on campus.
- Balloons, horns, fire crackers are not allowed on campus.
- Attendees are divided in two different zones: Green Zone (closer to the stage for the parents) and Red Zone (for the guests).
- Color-coded entries for each zone are non-transferable and cannot be switched at the door on the day of Commencement.
- Seating within each zone is on a first come first served basis. No seat reservation is allowed.
